#Scintilla Day 2: I Couldn’t Do It Without You. Ever.

Prompt: No one does it alone. Write a letter to your rescuer or mentor (be it a person, book, film, record, anything). Share the way they lit up your path.

You were unexpected and so even more cherished.

You rescued me before I knew I needed rescuing, my Romeo in black jeans, your steed a big old Ford F150 that snarled at others and smiled at me. A self-made man, you were secure in yourself without being arrogant, handsome and sexy without knowing it, incredibly intelligent, far-seeing, and all the other things that make up attraction for me. Nice, with spice.

When you found me, the path I was on was one of those thorny yet alluring, dangerously intoxicating trails I had stupidly chosen. Yet looking back, I think this was a necessary evil; I may never have met you when I did, had I not gone through that small slice of hell.

So each time I catch myself thinking about it and get overcome with regret over several of those bone-headed choices, most of those idiotic decisions and a lot of that wasted time, I still come up with the saving grace that is you.

Then I let myself relax and realize I’ve got the right here, right now, with you, and that whatever I’ve gone through has made me the person I am, someone you fell in love with at first sight.

You’ve changed my path entirely. It’s no longer so narrow only I can use it. There’s room now for a true partner to walk by my side, goals to move toward with purpose, time to wander without purpose. Whatever thorns may bristle, we’ll get through them together.

Let’s explore.

    • Jason, you rock. Thank you so very much.

I’m glad too–though I’ve already fallen a tad behind this weekend. But the relaxed nature of this project makes me feel good.

  1. The Universe led me here to read this: “So each time I catch myself thinking about it and get overcome with regret over several of those bone-headed choices, most of those idiotic decisions and a lot of that wasted time, I still come up with the saving grace that is you”. Actually, it was #Scintilla on Twitter, but you get it, yes?

He’s all about it, all the best to the two of you.

    • Thank you so much, both for reading and for your kind sentiment.

The “Universe” makes sense to me; we’re just using whatever conduits we can find to help it make more sense. 🙂
