I’m very happy to share my news that my next picture book, Hush, Mouse!, will be out in June!
UPDATE: Pre-order now! (link will take you to my publisher’s site)
Lovingly illustrated by Alicia Young, Hush, Mouse! is about a tiny kitten named Mouse with a great big meow. In fact, she meows so much, she’s always being told to hush!
The only person in the family who appreciates Mouse is Little Liz. Little Liz is short for her age, and people don’t seem to hear what she has to say, either.
Mouse and Little Liz spend a lot of time together and understand each other perfectly. Together the two prevent a crime and show that they’re worth being listened to!

READERS’ FAVORITE 5-STAR REVIEW
“Becky Benishek’s The Squeezor is Coming! is suitably creepy and filled with gross and funny things that are guaranteed to make kids and their caregivers giggle with delight. It also sends a wonderful message to those kids, and there are an awful lot of them, who feel different or have trouble making friends.” -Jack Magnus for Readers’ Favorite
What do you do when you just don’t fit in?
The Squeezor is a monster who just wants to make friends. But all the other monsters think he looks too scary, so everyone runs away from him.
This makes the Squeezor very sad. How can he get everyone to stop judging him based on what he looks like, and see the big heart he has inside?
Then he gets an idea: It isn’t about what he wants, but what the other monsters need.
Join the Squeezor in the town of Ghastly Gigapolis! The colorful illustrations (with surprises) will enchant each time you open the book, and the happy ending is sure to delight all big and little monsters.
My book comes in softcover and hardcover, and also in a dyslexic font version.

Post #24 of the holiday blogroll for participants in Indie Authors Monthly.
What’s a Squeezor? He’s a great big monster with the title role in THE SQUEEZOR IS COMING, my children’s book out in AUGUST 2018 from MacLaren-Cochrane Publishing.
The Squeezor just wants to give hugs, and when you see him, you’ll know why: He’s got long arms that can wrap around you twice to give you the SQUEEZIEST hugs ever.
The trouble is, the Squeezor doesn’t look like he just wants to give you a hug. He looks like he wants to eat you up! Even other monsters run away from him in terror.
This makes the Squeezor very sad. He can’t help the way he looks. How can he get everyone to trust him?
Then he gets a great idea: Instead of focusing on what he wants, he has to figure out what the other monsters need!
You and your kids will find out how the Squeezor overcomes negative first impressions with compassion and empathy.
