Yes, you read that right: Hemp.
I’d never eaten hemp before this, but something about Nature’s Path Sunny Hemp appealed:
“Real, organic hemps seeds, sunflower seeds and raisins; all made with good stuff like whole grain oats. Packed with raisins, sunflower seeds and nutritious hemp seeds! This bar has flaxseeds and is an excellent source of Omega 3’s. This could become a cult classic.”
I think they’re right.
Nature’s Path granola bars are my go-to morning snack at work. Starving by 9 am, I’d rather nosh on something that has more than a passing claim to being healthy and doesn’t taste like pressed cardboard.
This brand in general, and Sunny Hemp in particular, are saving my starving innards AND my tastebuds every day.
Dietary note: This granola bar is not gluten free and contains soy. It also contains evaporated cane juice, tapioca syrup and invert cane syrup. For all that, I don’t find them too sweet, but tastebuds vary. I definitely recommend!
Having consumed several boxes of these over the past few months, I wholeheartedly recommend Nature’s Path Organic Pumpkin’n’Spice Flax Plus Chewy Granola Bars.
I know the optimal way to be healthy and make smart food choices is not to hoover up packaged stuff all the time, but it’s not always easy for the worker bee to whip up scrumptious, healthy snacks in our jealously-guarded free time. At least that’s one of my excuses.
And these have a great dose of healthy as far as I’m concerned. For those keeping track at home, the sodium level comes in at 80 mg and total fat 4g. Of the 12 ingredients, granola heads the list, closely followed by pumpkin seeds and flaxseeds with molasses bringing up the rear. Invert cane syrup is 5th on the list and evaporated cane juice is #9.
It’s really nice to have a snack that doesn’t have sugar as the #1 ingredient, in any of its disguised forms.
So with all the good news, what about the taste-bud satisfaction? Imagine this: A beautiful collation of crunchy seeds in a deliciously chewy mix that doesn’t crumble to bits all over your desk when you bite into it.
When hunger strikes, these puppies solve it.
